Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojan 2.0 – The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas launched the PMUY or Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. The whole motive for launching this was that all the households that are under the BPL level enjoy the leverage of LPG connections. Recently under PM Ujjwala Yojana 2.0, the Central Government has increased Rs.200 additional Subsidy on gas cylinders. Today, We will know how to get additional subsidies under Ujjwala Yojana 2.0.
The beneficiary will be able to get Rs.1600 for every connection along with that they will be able to enjoy an interest-free loan so that they can buy a gas stove as well as refill the cylinder. The whole of the LPG’s administrative cost is shouldered by the government.
What is the need for PMUY or Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana 2.0?
The access to cooking gas that is LPG is limited to the poor class people in the country. As per the LPG cylinders, they are mainly available in semi-urban and urban areas. The government realizes that cooking with fossil fuels is a threat to one’s health. - SC Households
- ST Households
- Forest Dwellers
- Most Backward Classes
- Tea and Ex-tea Garden tribes
- SECC Households (AHL TIN)
- People living on islands or river islands
- 14-point declaration of poor household
Eligibility Criteria for PM Ujjwala Yojana
There are certain eligibility criteria that one needs to meet to be eligible for the Ujjwala Yojana 2023 and they are as follows:-
- Applicant should be 18 years or above.
- The applicant should be an Indian citizen.
- The applicant should be a woman hailing from a BPL-level family with no LPG connection.
- Applicants shouldn’t be enjoying any other benefit under likewise schemes.
Along with the above-mentioned criteria, the applicant must be listed in SECC 2011 or BPL households under ST/SC households, PMAY (Gramin), forest dwellers, Most Backward Classes (MBC), or people who live in the river islands.
Necessary Documents to Get Subsidy under Ujjwala Yojana 2.0
Certain documents need to be produced to apply for the yojana and they are as follows:-
- BPL ration card
- Address proof
- Municipality chairman or panchayat pradhan issued BPL certificate
- Caste certificate
- One passport-sized photograph
- Either Jan Dhan’s bank account or bank passbook
- Duly signed 14-point declaration in the asked format
- Each family member’s Aadhar number
Registration process of Ujjwala Yojana 2.0
The below-mentioned registration processes are to be referred to to apply for the Ujjwala Yojana plan;-
- Fill out the application form either by downloading it from the website of pmuy.gov.in or from the LPG distributor that is located nearby.
- Fill out the application form with the correct details.
- Submit the form at the nearby LPG distributor office.
After successful submission and successful document verification, several marketing companies will issue an LPG connection.
Benefits of the PM Ujjwala Yojana 2.0
When it comes to the benefits of the yojana, the Government of India provides cash assistance to the beneficiaries. The amount is Rs. 1600 which is liable for a 14.2 kg cylinder/Rs. 1150 for a 5 kg cylinder).
Here the cash assistance tends to cover the below-mentioned lists:-
- LPG Hose- INR 100.
- Pressure Regulator- INR 150.
- Security Deposit of Cylinder- INR 1250 for 14.2 kg.
- Inspection/installation/demonstration charges- INR 75.
- Domestic gas consumer card INR 25.
Not just that, every beneficiary will enjoy the leverage of getting the first Stove and LPG refill free as well as the connection that is deposit-free.
Conclusion
In numbers, this scheme has benefited more than 8.8 million BPL category families in West Bengal, 14.6 million in Uttar Pradesh, 3.24 million in Tamil Nadu, and 6.3 million in Rajasthan. As per the National Family Health Surveys, it has been found that there has been a significant improvement in the cleaner cooking fuels demographic because of the PMUY scheme. In a nutshell, it can be said that this scheme contributed to the upliftment of many families.
