Aisa Cup is a very well-known popular Cricket Series in Aisa Continental, where Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Hong Kong, and Indian Cricket Team participate. Asia Cup winners list 1984 – 2022
1984
The Asian Cricket Council’s headquarters were located in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, where the inaugural Rothmans Asia Cup was played in 1984. It was a round-robin tournament between Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and India. The inaugural game featured Sri Lanka, a brand-new ICC member, against Pakistan. With two victories, India took home the trophy. Sri Lanka finished in second place with a win over Pakistan.
1986
In Sri Lanka, the second edition took place. Due to its tense relations with the host country, India chose not to take part in the competition. Pakistan was the second participant country, and Bangladesh was also a part of the competition. Three round-robin group matches and one final was played. The trophy went to Sri Lanka.
1988
For the first time, an international cricket competition was conducted in Bangladesh for the third Asia Cup edition in 1988. India won their second Asia Cup by defeating Sri Lanka by six wickets in the championship match.
1991
From 25 December 1990 to 4 January 1991, the fourth edition was held. Sri Lanka and Bangladesh were also present, with India serving as the host nation. Because of its tense relationship with India, Pakistan opted out. The round-robin format was used for all four of the games. India defeated Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final to win it back for a second time.
1995
Due to tense political ties between India and Pakistan, the 1993 event was called off. Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan participated in the tournament’s fifth edition, which was once more hosted in Sharjah. India defeated Sri Lanka in the championship match for the third time in a row.
1997
Again held in Sri Lanka, the tournament’s sixth edition saw the participation of Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. In the Asia Cup final, Sri Lanka defeated India by 8 wickets to win it for the second time.
2000
Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh were the participating teams in the tournament’s seventh edition, which was held in Bangladesh for the second time. While India only defeated Bangladesh once and failed to advance to the final for the first time, Pakistan and Sri Lanka did. Pakistan won the Asia Cup for the first time after defeating Sri Lanka in the final match.
2004
Sri Lanka hosted the eighth edition of 2004. The tournament’s structure changed as a result of the addition of UAE and Hong Kong for the first time, and it was now separated into three phases: the Group Stage, Super Fours, and the Final. Group A was assigned to the hosts Sri Lanka, India, and the United Arab Emirates, while Group B was given to the reigning champions Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Hong Kong. The group stage saw the elimination of the UAE and Hong Kong. India and Sri Lanka won the Super Four round and advanced to the championship. Sri Lanka defeated India in the Asia Cup final by a score of 25 runs to win.
2008
Pakistan hosted the Asia Cup’s ninth edition. The structure was the same as in the previous edition. Sri Lanka won Group A and, together with Bangladesh, advanced to the next round. India won Group B and, along with Pakistan in second place, advanced to the Super Fours. In the Asia Cup final, Sri Lanka defeated India to win it for the fourth time.
2010
Sri Lanka hosted the tenth edition. India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan were the only four test-playing nations to participate in the 2010 Asia Cup. India and Sri Lanka won all 7 games in total, finishing first in the group rounds. India defeated Sri Lanka in the championship match to win the tournament for the first time in 15 years and won it for the fifth time.
2012
The Asia Cup’s eleventh edition was contested in Dhaka, Bangladesh. India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan were the four test-playing nations that participated in the 2012 Asia Cup. There were a total of 7 games played, with Pakistan and Bangladesh winning the group stages. For the first time, Bangladesh made it to the Asia Cup final. Nevertheless, Pakistan defeated Bangladesh in the decisive over to win their second Asia Cup.
2014
Once again, Bangladesh hosted the tournament’s 12th edition in Dhaka and Fatullah. Along with Afghanistan, the four test-playing nations of India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan also took part in the event. Afghanistan made its debut in the Asia Cup with this edition. In the championship match, Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by five wickets to win the Asia Cup for the fifth time.
2016
The 2016 Asia Cup took place in Bangladesh. In all, 5 teams took part in the competition. India and Bangladesh both advanced to the Asia Cup final when India defeated Bangladesh by an eight-wicket margin and took home the championship. Asia Cup competitions would be held on a rotating basis in ODI and T20I formats, it was announced after the ICC downsized the Asian Cricket Council in 2015.
2018
The 14th edition of the Asia Cup took place in the United Arab Emirates in 2018. Hong Kong (debut) was listed as the sixth team in the competition. India and Bangladesh both made it to the Asia Cup finals when India won by three wickets and took home the title of champion.
2022
The 2020 Asia Cup was originally scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka in 2021 but was later moved to 2022 with games being held in the United Arab Emirates due to the COVID-19 outbreak. In the final, Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by 23 runs to win the Asia Cup. As the only unbeaten team in the Super-Four stage, Sri Lanka advanced to the final by defeating Afghanistan, India, and Pakistan.
2023
The 2023 Asia Cup is yet to be announced. As there is some struggle going on between India and Pakistan. Indian Cricket Team Doesn’t want to travel to Pakistan due to security reasons and Pakistan doesn’t want to play on natural host as well. So probably, the 2023 Asia Cup won’t be possible. We will update you once we have anything on this.

Asia Cup Titles won by India
Since its start in 1983, the Indian cricket team has consistently topped the list of Asia Cup champions. India has consistently won and has won seven Asia Cups champions titles so far. In addition to this, India stood as runner-up in 3 matches and has competed in 10 of the 15 Finals.
- In 1984, India won the tournament against Sri Lanka and became the first winner of the Asia Cup.
- In 1986, India won the 3rd edition of the tournament against Sri Lanka. The team retained the victory for the 4th and 5th editions as well for the matches held in 1990 and 1995, respectively.
- India won the Asia Cup 2010 tournament for the fifth time with an easy victory over Sri Lanka in the championship match. This was the first time in 15 years that India had won the competition.
- In the 2016 Asia Cup Edition, India won the Asia Cup trophy by defeating Bangladesh.
- After defeating Bangladesh in the championship match by a margin of three wickets in 2018, India successfully defended their title.
