He further mentioned the reason for initiating the Vishwakarma Yojana, a result of artisan families leaving their professions due to minimal funding and recognition. Thus, the scheme will encourage the family-based practice of traditional craftsman skills.
A budget of Rs 13,000 crore for the term of five years has been allocated for this new government program. The sum will be put to use in providing financial aid to the artisans and craftsman families.

Traditional businesspeople who rely on manual labor, such as carpenters, tailors, basket weavers, barbers, goldsmiths, blacksmiths, potters, confectioners, cobblers, and artists of handicrafts, will profit from this program.

Easy Loans for Workers
Under the Vishwakarma Yojana, beneficiaries will get easy loans of up to 2 Lakhs at minimum interest rates.
The government will initially offer artisans loans up to Rs 1 lakh at an exceptionally low interest rate of 5%. The program would continue to offer loan support in the next phase, up to Rs 2 lakh, while keeping the competitive interest rate at 5%.
Opportunity for Skill Enhancement
Carpenters, tailors, basket weavers, barbers, goldsmiths, blacksmiths, potters, confectioners, cobblers, etc. will all receive skill upgradation training as part of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana.
The training program will be complimented along with offering financial support to the trainees. During the training time, participants will be entitled to a stipend of Rs 500 each day.
Moreover, they will also receive toolkit incentives to buy contemporary tools and incentives for digital transactions and marketing to increase their reach in the local and global market chain.
